Smelly Washer Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

I live in an old home with no laundry room.  When we bought our house, my husband and I thought long and hard about where we would put our washer and dryer.  We didn’t have any closets large enough to accommodate a washer and dryer and our basement floor was dirt, so the idea of doing laundry down there seemed a little impractical (especially when you consider how many things fall out of my arms as I move clothes from the washer to the dryer).  After much deliberation, we decided to put a stackable washer and dryer in our master bathroom.

After having our washer for only a year, we noticed that our towels didn’t smell very fresh when they came out of the laundry.  I’m extra sensitive about smells so this drove me absolutely crazy.  If I used a towel that smelled slightly mildewy, the smell stayed with me all day long! YUCK!

I tried running bleach through the washing machine…it helped a little, but some of it must have stayed in the washing machine because I noticed a few of my black tee shirts had bleach spots on them a few loads later! Grrr!  I googled various solutions and while they helped a little, none of them seemed to do the trick.

Enter Smelly Washer, a product designed to rid your washer of the nasty smell AND get rid of the smell in your towels.  I have to admit, I was pretty desperate by the time I heard about Smelly Washer.  I was willing to try just about anything, so when I was given the opportunity to try Smelly Washer, I figured it was worth trying.   When the Smelly Washer arrived in the mail, it sat on the counter for a few weeks before I actually tried it.  When I finally got around to using it, I didn’t have high hopes, but I couldn’t stand the thought of using one of those less-than-fresh smelling towels for even another day.

I added a capful of Smelly Washer to my stinky washing machine, ran the machine for 2 minutes with hot water, turned it off and let it soak over night and VOILA, the nasty smell went away.  What’s even more impressive is that I was able to get the smell out of my towels by adding some Smelly Washer to the machine while washing my towels.  This product is absolutely amazing! And it’s a whole lot cheaper than new towels!

Here’s all the info you’ve been waiting for!

Want to Buy It: You can buy Smelly Washer Washing Machine Cleaner for only $16.99.  They also make Smelly Towel which is designed specifically for getting that gross mildew smell out of your towels!

Making Your Home a Haven

Life at my house has been chaotic lately!  Both of the girls are playing soccer, we’ve had a few projects due at school, my work schedule has been busier than usual, my sweet hubby is doing his normal job and working on a special project in his spare time and we’ve been doing some traveling in the midst of all that!  For most moms, the beginning of school means added chaos and craziness at home.  If you’d like to make your home a more peaceful place to be, you won’t want to miss Making Your Home a Haven!  Every Monday during the month of October, Courtney will be giving suggestions for creating calm in the midst of your chaos!   I hope you’ll all participate and that you and your families will be blessed as a result!

Menu Plan Monday – Fair Week

I can’t believe it’s Monday already…and it’s not just any Monday.  Today is the first day of the fair.  In our town, we have two major traditions…the ACD Festival and the fall fair.  During both of these times, people flock to our little town.  The center of town is closed off and traffic is re-routed by our house.  It’s crazy, it’s busy and it’s fun!

During this week, our girls take every opportunity they can to make it down to the fair where you’ll find every imaginable fair food.  Add a few soccer games, a big bug project, a youth outreach project, a youth retreat, and my mom’s birthday and you’ll find that we’re not going to be home much which means there won’t be a whole lot of cooking going on at our house this week.

These are the 2 meals I have planned for this week.  I’m not sure if I’ll end up making both of them, but this is the plan for the time being.

  • Creamed Chicken and biscuit
  • Creamy Tomato Bisque with Homemade bread or rolls

Nothing too fancy at our house, just some yummy cozy comfort food to help offset the chilly weather!

That’s what’s cooking at our house this week!  You can find lots of great menu plans and menu planning ideas over at Menu Plan Monday!
