This picture totally doesn't do the necklace justice. No matter what angle we took the picture from we got a crazy glare. It looks great in person though. {Also please avoid staring at my neck wrinkles! It makes me self conscious. Thanks}
There are days when I take craftiness to a whole new level in a good way and there are days when I finish a project only to have people wonder what 4 year old made it for me! So whenever I take on a new craft project, I’m always concerned that it could turn out to be disastrous.
Today, I decided to take my super crafty skills to a whole new level by making a necklace using the Instant Domed Photo Pendant Making Kit from PhotoJewelryMaking.com. The hardest part of the project was deciding what photo to use. If I had read the instructions first, I would have learned that I could have just used color and text instead, but I didn’t read it first… Oh well, live and learn!
From the day I heard that I would have a chance to make one of these cool necklaces, I’ve been thinking about what picture I most wanted to put in there. My first thought was to put a picture of my girls in there, but I couldn’t find a small enough picture of their heads together. While I could have easily used a picture of one of the girls, then I would have had to choose…and the ensuing drama would probably have pushed me over the edge. So what’s a blogger to do when faced with a problem like this? Why, make a necklace with their blog logo of course! I’ve always envied those bloggers at conferences who have tote bags and tees and coffee mugs that are branded with their logo!
So I decided to use my logo to make a super trendy necklace. And it is sooo cute! Since the pendant I made was round, my little button wouldn’t fit. I decided just to use the girl from my logo and to add text to it. I used the EZ Photo Resizer software that came with my pendant kit. I was surprised at how quickly it loaded onto my Mac. I’ve discovered that the software that comes with things I buy is typically made for PCs. Once I chose the logo, it was easy to crop and add text.
I added the text and it turned my cute little picture into a pdf to print.
When I printed it and sat the dome on top of it to see how it looked I realized that you couldn’t see all the text. So I started over…

My second attempt was perfect!!!!
I’m so excited about my cute new necklace! And one of you are going to have a chance to make your own very cool necklace!
