About

My name is Lisa Thompson.  I have been married to my wonderful husband Fred for 8 years.  In 2007, our now 15 and 18 year old daughters joined our family through the blessing of adoption.  In December, 2012, we had 6 year old twins join our family and on October 1, 2013, they officially became Thompsons. To say that  life is never dull at our house would be an understatement!

When I began blogging, our family had a staggering amount of debt…over $80,000 (not including our house).  We felt like our situation was hopeless. Thankfully, my husband purchased The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness (with a credit because we were ridiculously broke) and after reading it, we made some dramatic changes to the way we lived! We also went through Dave Ramseys Financial Peace University Membership Kit with our church.  I can’t say enough positive things about FPU and I highly recommend that every church offer it at least once a year! It’s truly life changing and will make a huge difference in the lives of the church body and the church itself!

I am now thrilled to say that other than our house, we’re debt free!!!  I have been amazed at how God’s provision, coupled with discipline and hard work on our part, has made such a huge difference in our financial life, our family life, and our future endeavors.

As a busy mom of 4, I’ve decided to branch out a little in what I blog about.  Although I’ve always shared things that will help you save time, save money, and save your sanity, instead of focusing mainly on saving money, I’ll be focusing on all of them: saving money, saving time and saving sanity (and at this point…I could use all the sanity saving possible!!!)

I’m not naturally frugal, but by saving on everyday purchases, I can afford to splurge on the things I love…shoes, purses, travel and good chocolate (if you’ve never had a DeBrand truffle, you’re missing out). I hope that this blog is a blessing and encouragement to you and your family.

I’d love to hear from you!  Comments and feedback are always welcome.
