I love beauty products. I like creams and lotions and potions and anything that promises to give me that “dewy glow”. I really do! Unfortunately, I have extra dry, overly sensitive skin and many of the products that I’ve tried have left me with red, blotchy, bumpy unattractive looking skin. As I’ve gotten older, my skin has only gotten drier and more sensitive which has lead me on the search for the holy grail of natural skin care products. Naturally, (pun intended) I jumped on the chance to review skincare products from Terralina.

From the moment I laid eyes on the packaging, I was smitten.

My Ultimate Collection was packaged in the box above!  Even though it was the middle of the day, I unpackaged my pretty skin care set and set off to try it out.  It was every bit as delightful as the packaging!  The cleanser was creamy and non-irritating.  The toner was quite refreshing and didn’t sting or burn.  And the moisturizer…oh the moisturizer.  It was like a little bit of heaven on my skin.  It had a wonderful texture and a light refreshing scent.   I also tried the gentle facial exfoliator and it did a great job with my dry flaky skin!  The body lotion left my skin feeling soft and smooth.  My only complaint is that once my daughters tried it, I had to fight them to keep it in my bathroom.  They liked it enough that they wanted to keep it in their bathroom.  Terralina even included a soy tealight candle that will fit in your moisturizer jar once it has been cleaned out!  How cool is that?!?

My daughters both love school supplies!  They love notebooks and pens and pencils and binders.  I try to stock up on school supplies when they are on clearance so we always have a few extras on hand.  The problem is that they don’t love just any school supplies.  They are totally into school supplies that are pretty, fun, and hip.  In other words, they’re into Studio C school supplies by Carolina Pad.  I don’t blame them.  I feel the same way (although my obsession isn’t all school supplies…just binders).

The girls wanted to start shopping for school supplies in June, however, I told them to hold off to see what school supplies were going on sale.  To say that they were thrilled when I received a box of goodies from Carolina Pad would be an understatement!  We received a 1-subject notebook, an 18 month planner, a 3 pack of 2 pocket folders, a 1″ binder, a composition book, an Ideal Book (a medium size notebook which includes a CD envelope in it), pens, and pencils!  There were a few arguments over who got what, but we were able to quickly squelch the arguments with a trip to Wal-Mart!  They had tons of Studio C products by Carolina Pad and the prices were terrific!  My daughters liked them so much they even offered to pay for their own school supplies!  That’s a pretty big deal!  Most Junior High and High School girls don’t want to spend their hard earned money on school supplies!

I’m a total sucker for “As Seen On TV” products which is quite funny since I don’t watch TV.  (If I do happen to be near a TV that is on and I get to choose the channel, I could watch infomercials for hours!) I’m the person you’ll see at CVS standing mesmerized in the aisle with the “As Seen On TV” merchandise trying to decide which ones I want to spend my ECBs on.  To be quite honest, I’m usually disappointed in what I purchase.  The products never seem to live up to the hype!

I really think there is a little gnome who lives in our cupboards and delights in separating bowls from their matching lids.  I have no idea what happens to the various lids and bowls the gnome steals, but the result is that we have 9 million plastic bowls, 7 million plastic lids, and about 3 matching sets!  Unfortunately this means that leftovers typically end up covered in plastic wrap (which ends up sticking more to itself than the bowl) or foil (which means I have no idea what is in each bowl in the fridge).  Last week I was saved from my leftover misery by the arrival of a box of CoverMate Stretch to Fit Food Covers!

My name is Lisa and I’m 33 years old.  I’ve been married to my amazing husband Fred for 5 years.  Our lives have been insanely crazy during those 5 years and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Six years ago, I met my husband on eHarmony.  He’s incredibly awesome and I knew I wanted to marry him within the first month of meeting him!

Five years ago, we got married and began our life of wedded bliss in warm, sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

Four years ago, we moved to warm, sunny Fort Wayne Indiana.  During that year, we also met and fell in love with an 8 year old girl named Khrystyna who lived in an orphanage in Ukraine.  We immediately began the process of adopting her.

Three years ago, we got our approval to travel to Ukraine to adopt Khrystyna.  While in Ukraine, we met and fell in love with an 11 year old girl named Amina.  Five weeks later, we were the official parents of both Amina and Khrystyna.  We have been so blessed by them! I can’t even begin to imagine life without them.

Two years ago, we decided that we wanted to move closer to the school our daughters attend and so we bought a major fixer-upper and moved from Fort Wayne to Auburn.  We also realized we had a ridiculous amount of debt (partly due to the adoption and partly due to not living within our means).

One year ago, I started blogging at savingmoneylivingbetter.blogspot.com as a way to stay financially accountable and as a way to share the things I was learning about saving money and paying off debt!

Three months ago, I moved to WordPress and SimplifiedSaving.com was launched.  I love to share deals I find, freebies, and tips and tricks for saving money.  I also like to review books and products and do giveaways.   Although you will primarily find deals, reviews, and giveaways, there are also quite a few posts on weight loss and fitness since I am currently a contestant on Fort Wayne’s Smallest Winner, a weight loss competition similar to The Biggest Loser.  We’re only in our second week of competition, but during the first week I lost 5.8 pounds.
