Terralina Ultimate Collection Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

I love beauty products. I like creams and lotions and potions and anything that promises to give me that “dewy glow”. I really do! Unfortunately, I have extra dry, overly sensitive skin and many of the products that I’ve tried have left me with red, blotchy, bumpy unattractive looking skin. As I’ve gotten older, my skin has only gotten drier and more sensitive which has lead me on the search for the holy grail of natural skin care products. Naturally, (pun intended) I jumped on the chance to review skincare products from Terralina.

From the moment I laid eyes on the packaging, I was smitten.

My Ultimate Collection was packaged in the box above!  Even though it was the middle of the day, I unpackaged my pretty skin care set and set off to try it out.  It was every bit as delightful as the packaging!  The cleanser was creamy and non-irritating.  The toner was quite refreshing and didn’t sting or burn.  And the moisturizer…oh the moisturizer.  It was like a little bit of heaven on my skin.  It had a wonderful texture and a light refreshing scent.   I also tried the gentle facial exfoliator and it did a great job with my dry flaky skin!  The body lotion left my skin feeling soft and smooth.  My only complaint is that once my daughters tried it, I had to fight them to keep it in my bathroom.  They liked it enough that they wanted to keep it in their bathroom.  Terralina even included a soy tealight candle that will fit in your moisturizer jar once it has been cleaned out!  How cool is that?!?

The price of the Terralina Ultimate Collection is $138 which is a little higher than what I would normally spend, but for paraben-free products that are 98.65% natural, I think it’s quite worth it!  Right now, Terralina has a Buy One, Get One Free Special going on PLUS you can use code MamaBuzz10 for an additional 10% off.

We Cry Out by Jeremy Camp

I love music that stirs me to pour out my hear to God…music that reminds me of the truth of God’s Word and His character and the hope we have because of the cross.  Jeremy Camp’s new worship album We Cry Out: The Worship Project which will be released on August 24th does exactly that.

Hope is here

Shout the news to everyone

It’s a new day peace has come

Mercy triumphs at the cross

Love has come to rescue us

Jesus saves

We Cry Out: The Worship Project begins with the lyrics above (Jesus Saves) and includes beautiful arrangements of worship favorites like Mighty To Save (love this song) and You Never Let Go as well as originals like King Jesus and Unrestrained.

There’s evidence that everyone else feels otherwise—he has sold three million records, charted nineteen No. 1 hits, GRAMMY-nominated and won several major Dove Awards—but Jeremy Camp is tired of himself. Not in any self-deprecating way, but in that positive spiritual sense to which we should all aspire. You can hear him working this out on his sixth recording, We Cry Out: The Worship Project.

“It’s common to say, ‘It’s not about me, God. It’s about You.’ Yet I’m really at that point right now,” Jeremy admits. “The Lord says in Jeremiah 29:13, ‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’ But we live in such a distracted society; we let the world’s noise divide our focus and our hearts. Our generation is in desperate need of crying out to God.”

To get himself out of the way, Camp, a rock artist who’s also an ordained minister, makes an intentional return to worship on We Cry Out just as he did for his second album, Carried Me. In this familiar setting, he often steps back from self-written tunes, choosing instead to celebrate and share the latest praise songs by others that have been stirring his own spirit toward revival.

What a refreshing view!  I’m very impressed by Jeremy Camp and this new worship album.  I had the privilege of interviewing Jeremy’s wife, Adie Camp in March and was encouraged by her heart for her God, her heart for her family, and her heart for people (Check out my interview with Adie Camp) and I have been encouraged by Jeremy’s heart as well!  I hope you will check out We Cry Out: The Worship Project!

Disclosure: I received a copy of  We Cry Out: The Worship Project free of charge for review purposes.  All opinions expressed here were truthful and my own!  No other compensation was received!

Lindsay Brin’s Shed 5 Fast DVD

Last year I vowed I would lose weight…and not just a little.  I had at least 90 pounds to lose.  I’m happy to report that I’ve lost 65 of those pounds, but I’m definitely not to my goal yet!  Over the past 4 months I’ve worked out more than I ever have at any point in my life and I am convinced that it has made all the difference in my weight loss!  As a busy mom, going to the gym isn’t always realistic, so I’ve been searching for videos that will kick my butt at home!

I absolutely love Lindsay Brin’s Shed 5 Fast DVD.  Lindsay uses the 3/3 interval method for the most effective fat burning workout – 3 minutes of toning using multiple muscle groups to boost metabolism, and 3 minutes of martial arts/kickboxing to melt fat in exercises that are simple and effective.  It’s really easy to follow this workout.  You’ll do lots of kicking and punching (it’s a great stress reliever) and lots of toning as well!  Plus, this workout will definitely work your core (one of my areas that could use some help!)

If you’re wondering about Lindsay’s qualifications…you can rest assured.  She’s more than qualified!  With a C.P.T. & B.S.E. Exercise Science, she is a fitness and nutrition expert and she’s a former NFL cheerleader. For nearly fifteen years, she’s been helping women achieve healthier bodies and minds. She has starred, choreographed and designed 13 fitness DVDs for weight loss. Five of her DVDs are designed specifically for prenatal and postnatal moms (she’s even chronicled her journey to get back in shape after each baby!) Her programs are renowned for their simple, fast results.  She’s also extremely approachable and you can interact with her on Facebook or on Twitter!

You can purchase Shed 5 Fast from Mom’s Into Fitness for $15.99.  Lindsay has graciously offered to give 20% off to readers of Simplified Saving.  (She knows we love a good deal!) Use code DVD20 when ordering!

Disclosure: Lindsay Brin and Mom’s Into Fitness in conjunction with Mama Buzz  provided me with a copy of this DVD for review purposes.  I received no other compensation for this post and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

    Justin’s Nut Butter

We are total peanut butter junkies at our house.   We make sandwiches with it, put it on ice cream, eat it with apples,  add it to recipes, and sometimes we even eat it directly from the jar with a spoon! {I can’t believe I’m admitting this!}  Last year, I decided I would try some healthier peanut butters and was so disappointed with the sand paper texture and taste.  After trying a few different brands, I went back to my not-so-healthy, but oh-so-tasty variety.  I was recently introduced to a peanut butter that is both healthy and tasty:  Justin’s Nut Butter.

We tried  Justin’s Organic Honey Peanut Butter Squeeze Packs and we all loved them!  The taste was delicious.  The honey added just the right touch of sweetness.  Also, the squeeze packs are so convenient for a family on the run like ours.  They’re great to take to ball games or on car trips.  And they’re made with all natural ingredients like Organic Dry Roasted Peanuts, Honey Powder (Sugar, Honey), Organic Palm Fruit Oil, Sea Salt.

Justin’s also comes in these other delicious flavors:

    • Chocolate Almond
    • Chocolate Peanut
    • Chocolate Hazelnut
    • Honey Almond
    • Classic Almond
    • Classic Peanut
    • Maple Almond

Although I want to try them all, I’m really looking forward to the Chocolate Almond Butter, the Chocolate Peanut Butter, and the Maple Almond Butter.

You can find Justin’s Nut Butter both online and in stores like Whole Foods.  The 10-pack Squeeze Packs of Justin’s Organic Honey Peanut Butter for $5.99/pack (prices vary based on flavor).  You can also connect with them on Facebook or Twitter.

Disclosure:  A 10-pack of Justin’s Organic Honey Peanut Butter was provided to me free of charge by Justin’s Nut Butter in conjunction with Mama Buzz.  All opinions expressed were my own!

Good Earth Dinner Kit {Review & Giveaway} CLOSED

The past 3 months have been the busiest 3 months of my life.  I feel like I’m never home!  I leave for the gym at 5:15 in the morning, go straight to work, and often I’m home for less than an hour before heading out to the ballfield with my kids.  I feel like I’ve been cooking non-impressive meals for weeks on end!  I was so excited when I was offered the chance to try one of Good Earth’s Dry Dinner Kits.  All of their dinner kits are 100% whole grain and contain no trans fat, no artificial flavors, no artificial preservatives, and no MSG. I love the idea of boxed dinner kits that allow you to keep a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing taste!

I received the Mediterranean Chicken Dinner kit along with the gift pack shown above.  I wasn’t sure how my hubby and kids would feel about it since they don’t necessarily like to try new things.  While I was cooking, my daughter came downstairs to see what smelled so good.  That’s always a good sign!  Dinner took less than 30 minutes to make and it was incredible!  I felt like a regular chef when I put this one the table!

You too can make a sophisticated, restaurant-quality meal at home!  Good Earth Dry Dinner Kits are coming to stores this month.  They offer four delectable meals to choose from: Mediterranean Chicken with angel hair pasta, Spicy Citrus Glazed Shrimp with angel hair pasta, Herb Crusted Chicken with mushroom risotto and Tuscan Chicken with penne pasta.  (I’m really looking forward to trying the Herb Crusted Chicken with mushroom risotto!)

Good Earth and MyBlogSpark have offered to give one reader of Simplified Saving a gift pack that includes a Good Earth Mediterranean Chicken dry dinner kit, two sets of bamboo flatware, two bamboo dishes, a bamboo utility board and a 100% recyclable grocery tote.

Covermate Covers {Review and Giveaway} CLOSED

    CoverMate Food Covers

I really think there is a little gnome who lives in our cupboards and delights in separating bowls from their matching lids.  I have no idea what happens to the various lids and bowls the gnome steals, but the result is that we have 9 million plastic bowls, 7 million plastic lids, and about 3 matching sets!  Unfortunately this means that leftovers typically end up covered in plastic wrap (which ends up sticking more to itself than the bowl) or foil (which means I have no idea what is in each bowl in the fridge).  Last week I was saved from my leftover misery by the arrival of a box of CoverMate Stretch to Fit Food Covers!

    CoverMate Food Covers

CoverMate Food Covers come in a variety of sizes and will stretch to fit a variety of size bowls.  They are also microwaveable and dishwasher safe and reusable (saving lots of money on foil and plastic wrap…not to mention it’s better for the environment).  In the last week, I have used them to cover:

    • a pan of macaroni and cheese
    • a half-used can of tomatoes
    • a bowl of cut up fruit
    • a bowl of chicken
    • a plate of food that I microwaved
    • a half eaten container of yogurt
    • a container of sour cream (the original lid disappeared….it could be the gnome)

My oldest daughter is currently in charge of clearing the table and putting leftovers away and CoverMate Food Covers have saved her a ton of time.  Everyone at our house loves them and I think you all would love them too.

    Check out this video:

Right now you can get a sample of CoverMate Food Covers for the price of Shipping and Handling, only $3.95.  Plus you’ll get a coupon for $1.00 off your next purchase.  I highly recommend that you try them out!  You can purchase them at many local retailers or purchase them from Amazon.

Thanks to the generosity of CoverMate Covers you can also win a variety pack right here on Simplified Saving!

What’s In The Bible DVD Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

I have always loved Veggie Tales, so when I was given a chance to review What’s In The Bible? by Phil Vischer (the creator of Veggie Tales), I jumped at it.  How can you not love a singing tomato and cucumber?

When Phil created Veggie Tales, his desire was to educate kids about the Bible.  After the first episode was released, Veggie Tales grew like crazy and Phil’s vision was put on the backburner.   It wasn’t until he lost Veggie Tales that his vision and purpose were renewed.  He began working intently on What’s In The Bible.

In What’s In The Bible, Phil Vischer uses puppets (sort of like the muppets) to tell the story of the Bible and how it fits together.  I think kids (and parents) will learn things about the Bible they’ve never known.  My daughter was pleasantly surprised by What’s In The Bible.  She’s not usually a big fan of puppets and although she thought that it was a little “cheesy” in parts, she learned a few new things!

I really enjoyed watching Phil Vischer share his heart and passion for God’s Word.  His desire is that kids will learn to know and love God’s Word…and I know that’s something I desire too!  I hope that you and your family will be inspired to dig into God’s Word!

Check out this preview below (and then scroll down for your chance to win!!!)

Giveaway: One reader of Simplified Saving will receive the following:

    • one voucher for What’s In The Bible: In the Beginning
    • one voucher for What’s In The Bible: Let My People Go

These vouchers can be redeemed at your local Christian bookstore.  If you do not have a store in your area, you can submit these vouchers directly to Tyndale House Publishers.

Ways To Win: (You can do more than one!)

    Adie Camp: Just You and Me {Review and Giveaway}

This past week has been stressful.  It hasn’t been a bad week…just a busy week, but I have to admit, sometimes the busy weeks get to me and I feel overwhelmed.  It probably didn’t help this past week that I was horribly sick which meant that everything I needed to get done took twice as long to do!  In the midst of one those busy days, I found these words running through my head. (There’s a pretty good chance I would have been singing them loudly if my throat wasn’t so sore.)

Jesus, Savior, Protector of my soul, Messiah, Redeemer, You’re the shelter in the storm!

These words come from the song Shelter on Adie Camp’s new album Just You and Me (which will be released on March 9).

The past few weeks, I have had the privilege of listening to Just You and Me and I have found it to be a beautiful worship album put out by an equally beautiful wife and mom.  For those of you who are not familiar with Adie Camp, she is a singer, worship leader, wife of recording artist Jeremy Camp, and a mom to 2 little girls.   She knows firsthand the struggles moms face today.  I think that’s one of the reasons this album is so powerful…and so soothing.  The songs reflect her desire to seek God in the midst of the good, the bad, and the busyness…and she’s had all three this past year.

Her relationship with the Lord sustained her during one of the darkest times she’s ever experienced. In the middle of the recording process, Adie miscarried a baby in the second trimester. After taking a two-week break, she returned to the studio and recorded the song, “Shelter.”

Adie was gracious enough to answer my questions about finding balance in her busy life, shepherding her children’s hearts, dealing with loss, and more…

As a busy mom, what is the one tip you could give to other moms to make
    their life easier?

Honestly, my time with the Lord before the girls wake up is crucial to the healthy function of my day. It’s like plugging into the power source and charging myself up, if I don’t do it – the battery dies quickly!

How do you find a balance between spending quality time with your husband and finding quality time with your daughters?

Jeremy and I have been doing this for over 7 years now and I think we’ve both learned to balance a lot of things. The girls obviously take up most of my time, but we try make priority time for just him and me. We often just sit and watch tv together, but we’ve also learned to keep each other in the loop with heart issues. From early on we started asking each other, “hows your heart?” It seems to be a good checkpoint sometimes.  Every once in a while tho, I have to be honest with him and say, “ok, babes, I need some time with you!”

As a mom, one of my greatest privileges is to shepherd the hearts of my
daughters.  I can see how much you desire to see your daughters growing up
loving Jesus.  What are you doing now to shepherd their hearts? And at a
time in your life where you are busy giving all day long to your family,
how do you find time to get in the Word and have your batteries recharged?

With regards to the girls, my mom gave me some great advice once. She said to make sure I was teaching the girls hearts’ and not just modifying their behavior. You can have a child who acts perfectly, but may have disconnected in their hearts.

I often sit the girls down and talk to them about consequences. That every decision they make will have either a good or bad consequence. They can either add peace or chaos to the situation. It’s helped us many times to sift thru drama or to get them to see that it’s better to choose to obey and get a good result…

I also try to take time out to listen to them and build a friendship with them now. If they start talking now, my hope is that they still will when they’re teenagers and of course after those years too.

With regards to my time with the Lord, I need it desperately. I wake up before my girls to read my bible and spend time in prayer. I’ve gone thru days when I didn’t spend time with Him and I fall a part so much faster.

I love that you are so active in your community and that you have embraced causes close to my heart.  With your love for the abandoned and the underdog, have you ever considered adoption?  I’m passionate about adoption and we adopted our daughters from Ukraine.

I totally have. It is definitely something that I would do in a heartbeat. If it’s the Lord’s will for us to, then I totally trust Him to lay it on Jeremy’s heart and mine equally as strong and at the right time. I think for right now He hasn’t, because there are other things that we are meant to be focussed on (“Speaking Louder Ministries“) and we want to be good stewards of the time we have, but as soon as He does, we will!

This past year, you experienced the devastating loss of your baby. What words of hope and comfort do you have for other families experiencing profound loss?

I truly cannot emphasize how God carried me (us) through that time. I read so much scripture that touched my heart so deeply. I can honestly say it’s one of those hard, but beautiful things that God has used in my life to show me the depth of His character and His love for me and I have never felt closer to Him.

I really do believe that His plans are good and we can’t be taken by surprise when we face trials as believers but God’s love is strong enough to get us through.  He is near the those who are broken-hearted and He is our ultimate comfort.  It is a joy to know that our precious baby is in the most perfect place, our home, in the arms of our loving Father God.

Of all the songs on your album, what song (or songs) have you been most impacted by?

“Shelter” ministered to me so much when our little baby went to heaven. It speaks about needing the Lord and knowing that He hears me and that He’s my shelter and comfort in the storm. I also love “Redemption Song” and “Seek You”.

Thanks Adie!  I am so appreciative of you sharing your heart and your music with us!

I can’t say enough good things about this album.  The lyrics are encouraging, the music is soothing, and in the midst of my somewhat chaotic life, I’m reminded to take my focus off of me and to put it where it needs to be!

And now it’s your turn to be encouraged by Adie Camp. If you’d like to win a copy of her newest CD Just You and Me, leave me a comment with your “go-to” song when times are tough or you’re needing a little pick-me-up.

    The Busy Couple’s Guide to Sharing the Work and the Joy by Kathy Peel {Review}

    Publisher: Tyndale House
    Price: Softcover $16.99

    Author Bio (from Tyndale Site)
Kathy Peel is founder and CEO of Family Manager, a company that trains women in the art of family management. She has written 21 books, selling more than 2 million copies. Her latest works are The Busy Mom’s Guide to a Happy, Organized Home (winner of the 2009 Gold Mom’s Choice Award) and Desperate Households. She is AOL’s Kids & Family Coach, and she contributes to many publications, including FamilyFun, Parents, Woman’s World, Family Circle, and HomeLife. A popular speaker and media personality, Kathy’s Family Manager makeover stories have appeared on programs such as Oprah, The Early Show, The Today Show, and HGTV.

    My Thoughts:

I’m very fortunate.  My husband does an amazing job pitching in with housework and the kids.  He’s even willing to let me go out of town on “Girls Weekends” while he holds down the fort at home. (As a matter of fact, I’m currently on a girls trip to Phoenix with my closest friends while he’s at home taking care of everything…including middle school science projects).  With all that being said, I still wanted to read The Busy Couple’s Guide to Sharing the Work and the Joy by Kathy Peel because let’s face it, most of us could use a little help around the house.

The Busy Couples Guide to Sharing the Work and the Joy is a practical guide for managing every day family life.  It includes chapters on managing time, home & property, meals, relationships, finances, and more.  Although many of the tips and ideas contained in the book are “common sense” to a naturally organized person, it’s a great manual for someone like me who’s not! Although I read this cover to cover, I think it would be just as useful to pick out the areas in your life that need the most help and to start with those chapters.

Each chapter also contains worksheets, assignments, and questions to work through.  Although I enjoyed the entire book, I found some of the most eye opening info in the margins.  With titles like Smart Move, Tech Tip, and Caution!, these mini paragraphs are packed with great info!  If you’re hoping to get your husband to read this too, Kathy’s husband Bill provides “A Man’s Point of View” in each chapter.

I’m pretty sure I’ll never convince my husband to read this (since he pretty much only reads technical books), however, the info in here will definitely help me do a better job of managing the day to day in our household.  And although I prefer that the Christian books I read contain Scripture and truth that will change my heart, I won’t turn down a book that will help do a better job serving my family…and this book is a great resource for that!!!

Disclosure: The Busy Couple’s Guide to Sharing the Work and the Joy was provided to me free of charge by Tyndale in conjunction with Mama Buzz. All opinions expressed here were my own.

    Potluck Survival Guide by Cherie Kimmons {A Review}

I’ve shared before that I love to entertain, but I’m horribly disorganized and it can make planning a meal for a large group intimidating (or downright stressful)! The Potluck Survival Guide is a great guide for busy moms everywhere. It’s part cookbook, part instruction manual, and one heck of a good read!
It doesn’t matter if you’re not an experienced cook, Cherie breaks it down with easy step by step instructions. If you are an experienced cook, you’ll still find this book to be a goldmine. These recipes can easily to be used to feed a small family or a soccer team.

This is one of the best books I’ve read on feeding a large crowd. Many of the meals start off with prepared ingredients like frozen veggies or instant mashed potatoes which drastically reduces prep time. It also includes recipes that can be prepared the night before. It also includes serving information so you can plan accordingly depending on the size of the crowd.

This is a book you need to pick up! It’s humorous, down to earth, and absolutely delightful.

    Potluck Survival Guide
can be purchased from Five Star Publications for only $18.96 (regularly $24.95).

Disclosure: Potluck Survival Guide was provided to me free of charge by Five Star Publications in conjunction with Mama Buzz. All opinions expressed here were my own.

Take Your Best Shot by Austin Gutwein and Todd Hillard
    Publisher: Thomas Nelson
    List Price: $12.99
    Ages: 12 and up

Rarely do I find a book that both of my girls love as much as I do. Although this book is geared for teens, it is a great read for anyone who has ever longed to make a difference. My basketball loving, book hating daughter called it the “best book I ever read.” My book loving, basketball hating daughter said she felt “challenged to make a difference”. I read it last month during the 30 Day Giving Challenge and was motivated to think outside the box with the way I gave.

Take Your Best Shot chronicles the story of 9 year old Austin Gutwein. After watching a video of
a 4 year old girl in Zambia who has been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, he told his parents he wanted to do something to help her. Although most parents would be tempted to dismiss this desire, his parents believed he could make a difference and placed a call to World Vision.

When Austin spoke with World Vision, they asked him what he liked to do and his response was “I like basketball.” Little did they know that God would use this small boy who wasn’t good enough to make his school basketball team, but loved basketball, to touch the lives of hundreds of kids in Africa (and thousands of kids across America).

Here are some thoughts from my daughters:

“This is the best book I’ve ever read. It made me think about what I can do to help people. I know that with God’s help, I can make a difference too.”

“Have you ever felt like a book is speaking to you? Or like a hammer is hitting you really hard on the head saying “Hello!?! Have you figured out the message God is sending you here? Well that’s what Take Your Best Shot did to me. I mean Austin is no older than me and he is already helping millions of children in Africa. Reading what he had to say really got me going. Lately I’ve been given more than I deserve and yet all I want is more. A feeling of guilt is now kind of haunting me. I now know that if Austin can be bad at basketball and still save lives, I can do the same. I believe that maybe it’s time to take MY best shot!”

I can’t tell you enough how highly I recommend this book and I think it’s highly fitting that I’m reviewing it on World AIDS Awareness Day. This would make a great stocking stuffer for the teen in your life or would make a great book to read out loud as a family if your children are a little bit older.

    The Attitude Girl by Mila Bernadkin {A Review}

Being a teenager is hard (and being the mom of one is really hard too, but this isn’t about me). Mila Bernadkin is a wonderful storyteller who has obviously had a lot of experience with teens. You can tell that she really “gets them” and the characters she crafted are extremely realistic.

The Attitude Girl is the story of Victoria Benson (Vicky) , a 17 year old who is tackling some pretty hefty issues with the help of her closest friends, Alex, Chloe, Jackie and Liza. When Vicky’s mom loses her job, Vicky has to come face to face with her shopping problem. She’s not too thrilled to find out that she can’t shop whenever she wants. This news is the catalyst that pushes Vicky’s already questionable attitude over the edge.
This book is written as a first person narrative and includes both Vicky’s external interactions and her inner dialogue. As Vicky deals with her mom’s unemployment, her feelings of abandonment by her dad, her shopping “problem” and the all to frequent teenage pressures to drink, be sexually active, and to fit in, she learns the importance of friendship.
I thought the story was masterfully written and extremely realistic, however, I wasn’t a big fan of the frequent swearing and sexual situations (although I do realize that’s part of what makes this book so believable).
Here’s a few thoughts from my teenager:
The most important event that happens in Attitude Girl was when all five friends deal with a hard relationship. All five girls deal with hard decisions, Alex and Vicki find out that a best friend is more important then a guy they both like, Chloe learns to step up for herself and not be the “baby” of the group anymore, and finally Liza pays the consequence for a bad choice she made with her boyfriend by finding out that she is pregnant.

The Attitude Girl teaches great lessons about decisions and friendships. Mila Bernadkin basically wrote a story about what an average teenage girl with a single mother goes through everyday. As a Christian, I don’t agree with the language Mila used in her book. Also I believe from my point of view I wouldn’t recommend this book for a junior high student because of some of the topics the characters talk about. Overall, I thought the Attitude Girl makes a great point, as I said before, about how some decisions and the friends I choose to hang around with can ether give me a positive consequence or a negative consequence.

I also really like that the author is from Ukraine…just like me!

You can get a copy of The Attitude Girl from Five Star Publications for $16.95.
Here’s a few pieces of information from the Media Kit.

In her debut novel, a first-place winner in the Arizona Authors Association Annual Literary Awards contest, LudmilaMilaBernadkin draws on her experience as a teacher, mother and advanced graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature to identify with the tremulous world of confusing emotions and mixed messages of “maturity” today’s teens live in as they feel their way through the process of becoming young adults.

Born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine, a beautiful resort city on the Black Sea, Bernadkin emigrated from the former Soviet Union and came to the United States in 1977. She graduated from the Brest Music College with a BA-equivalent degree in theory of music and music literature, and accepted a teaching position at a children’s music school. After moving to the States, she became a Senior Programmer-Analyst, working at several of the largest financial institutions in New York City. However, medical reasons forced her early retirement, which turned out to be a blessing as she realized her life-long dream of becoming an award-winning published writer.

Bernadkin resides in Brooklyn, New York, with her daughter, a graduate student who is working on her Master’s degree. Bernadkin loves to travel, listen to music and read.
